Who I am
My name is Frances Colleen. I am a wife, mom of two, registered nurse, sinner, child of God, and seeker of truth.
I also love music, art, movies, culture, and movements that promote peace and goodness in the world.
I have dabbled in a lot of things in my search for meaning in life and personal identity.
In my search for a closer relationship with God, I am now an ex-Protestant at the crossroads between Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy.
I want to be “minimalist,” but have been trying (and failing) to get out of “shopaholism” with little success for years.
I picked up the violin with passion in September 2016, but have put my learning on hold due to major changes in my life.
I want to be the most loving, supportive, inspiring, and empowering mom to my daughters, but feel like I don’t know what I’m doing most of the time.
Why I write
Writing keeps me sane. It helps me make sense out of life and make better decisions.
In detailing my journey towards becoming closer to God, a healthier consumer with no debt, a more passionate violin learner and mom, I hope to make better choices, or at least see some tangible progress with each post.
More than anything, this blog is a personal record of my emotional, intellectual, and spiritual journey towards being the person God made me to be, so that I can be who He needs me to be for His other children in this world.
But being an average but opinionated girl-next-door, every now and then I also rave or rant about everyday life as it happens.
Disclaimer: All opinions on this blog are my own, and I do not claim to be an authority or represent anyone else in anything I write. Where appropriate, I will quote my sources and hopefully inspire you to take a look at my discoveries for yourself, use your own judgement, and see how it fits into YOUR own journey.
That being said, welcome!
Feel free to send me a message anytime. I’d be happy to hear from you 🙂
